by admin on November 6, 2012

Toyota Motors Company can be considered as one of the leading and popular brands or names when it comes to cars. Many car buyers and car enthusiasts because of their performance, quality, reliability, and affordability seek after cars manufactured by Toyota. Being a true Japanese-based car company, Toyota cars also topped the list in the best-selling cars in their home country. According to the latest car sales statistics released in the country, Toyota Prius remained on top as the best selling cars in Japan as of the first half of 2012.

The Toyota Prius

During the first 6 months of the year, Toyota Prius continued to be the best selling car selling a total of 181,630 brand new Prius in the country. Second on the list is the Honda Fit or also known as Honda Jazz in other markets, which sell a total of 133,345 brand new Honda Fits in the country.

Despite being newly released and introduced in the market, Toyota Aqua proved to be a strong competitor for the Honda Fit and Toyota Prius selling more than 128,243 brand new Aquas from the month of April to June only after being introduced in the market in December 2011. With the speed at which it is selling, Toyota and car dealers are expecting the Toyota Aqua to outsell major car brands even their own Toyota Prius in the 2nd half of 2012.

Being a top and reputable car brand, another car model of Honda also enters the list of the best selling cars in Japan. Falling in the 4th spot is the Honda Freed which sold more than 70,629 brand new cars during the first half.

The 5th top selling Japanese car in Japan is the Toyota Vitz or also known as the Toyota Yaris in other countries or markets. Vitz topped the sales last year but this strong Toyota car model experienced drop in sales during the first half of the year probably because of the release of the newer Toyota car model – the Toyota Aqua. Other best selling cars in Japan are the Nissan Serena, Toyota Vellfire, Toyota Corolla, Mazda Demio, and the Honda Stepwagon.
